The only Polaroid film factory left in existence was re-opened in 2008, meaning that Polaroid film was saved from extinction. For a sense of genuine vintage, the Brownie camera (also known as the Box camera) is a legendary model. The earliest guise of the Brownie emerged even before the start of the First World War. 116 or 120 film rolls were the standard for early models, but later versions were compatible with a range of films and cartridges.

SLRs are lightweight, user-friendly and offer a good range of features. These include light metres that are in-built, a useful range of shutter speeds, and the ability to swap lenses to achieve various effects.
