As a photographer, one thing you will never be short of is accessories. There are a massive range of gadgets, devices and handy tools to use with your camera.
Here are three simple accessories - neither the most expensive nor advanced - but essential all the same.
Replacement Camera Straps
Larger cameras, especially, often come with neck straps that aren't really designed with comfort in mind. They are mainly functional. The problem is that on lengthier shoots, these sorts of straps can actually become quite painful.
The best way of reducing the strain is to take the camera away from the neck. Straps, such as those made by Black Rapid, are specifically designed to be worn from the shoulder to the hip - a great way of evenly distributing weight across the body.
Peak Design do a good line in versatile straps - both for wearing across the shoulder and around the neck.
Hand straps are another option and if you want to go totally hands-free, check out what Spider have to offer.
Memory Card Holders
A memory-card wallet is a simple but important accessory. As memory cards are so small and delicate, it's easy to either lose or damage them. A memory card wallet is a great and easy solution. Think Tank produce a wallet that holds up to 9 SD cards. Pelican have a great choice of tough cases that offer great protection. They are also shock absorbent and water resistant too.
Cleaning Kits
Clean optics are crucial for the long life of equipment and the quality of images, so it is important that you use specialist cleaning products. Cleaning wipes, such as those made by Zeiss, are great to remove dirt, dust and fingerprints gently. Tough spots may require a cleaning solution. Look for optical lens cleaning kits to keep all bases covered. Purosol produce an excellent kit.
